Introducing our Reclaimed T-Shirt ART Throw – a true testament to our planet and a show-stopping statement piece.
Sourced from the clothing dumpsters of Chiang Mai, Thailand, we meticulously handpicked T-shirts for their quality and raw potential. In our commitment to combatting textile waste, we breathe new life into these discarded gems, washing, cutting, and arranging them into a patchwork of history.
This April, an earth month challenge, we designed and created a collaborative art throw. Each day, we tested out different textile techniques depending on the last digit of our IG follower account that day. We followed this list:
0- embroidery
1- freeform sewing
2- painting
3- doodling
4- textile collage
5- writing
6- beads & charms
7- paint with bleach
8- printing
9- cyanotype
and the rest was left to fate! We documented each daily textile challenge on @colorofheat as "DESIGN A THROW TOGETHER" reels! Check it out to see the fun process.
We estimate that each challenge took us around 3hrs/day, and with a total of 18 days-- that is 55 hours of creative work! Not including t-shirt sourcing, washing, cutting, sewing, and finishing.
Our Wearable Throws are adaptable: use as a lap or throw blanket or wear it a number of ways—as a poncho; as kimono-esque sleeves; draped over the shoulder; and tunic-style. See “ways to wear” video above.
